The Website takes shape

I’ve been busy on this website over the last few weeks and am getting there with regards to loading up all the content. I am finding the difficult part is not in writing the content, which is in fact relatively easy, but in deciding what to include and what not to include. Although I want the website to be a site that is full of useful infomation on Feng Shui the danger is in piling so much content on here that everything gets lost.
I have decided to keep rate topic areas to a summary of each subject rather than write loads of information and I will then put a lot of the content in to the blog posts. Clear signposting, and clear subject headings in the blog posts should hopefully make it a lot easier for people to find what they are looking for rather than have to trawl through a lot of other information to find the exact information that they want. The website however is going to constantly evolve and so if feedback tells me that this format is not working then I will go back to the drawing board.
Because of this I have started to realise that it is probably best if my weekly blog posts stick to a particular theme. This will mean that I can just put one title in the blog post which should, and I say should because website design is not one of my strong points, make it easier for you to find what you are looking for and for it to be picked up by the search engines (which are a complete mystery to me). In the next few weeks then I am going to start looking at each area of the bagua and its relationship with the 5 elements and also probably, and I say probably because something topical may come up, common problems with bathrooms and bed placement.
I am of course open to suggestions and if there is anything that you would specifically like me to include in my blog posts you can email me. In fact I would welcome the interaction to be honest. In the new year I am going to add an Ask Andrew button to the website so that you can email me with any questions that you have about Feng Shui and I am also looking in to the possibility of setting up a discussion board so that the website gets a bit more of a community feel and we can all share our knowledge. Currently that is way beyond my area of expertise but given a bit of a time, and a fair wind as my grandmother would have said, I am sure it will be possible.
Today I am preparing for my last one day introduction to Feng Shui course of the year which I will be delivering in a couple of weeks time. I am looking forward to it and to meeting those of you who have booked on to it. There are going to be 16 of you which is a few more than usual and so I have managed to get the adjoining room so that we can spread out a bit. For those of you who are coming try and remember to bring a rough drawing of the floor plan of your house which we will then be working on as we move through the day. For those people who haven’t yet had the opportunity to book on to one of my courses I will be starting the courses again in Spring 2011 so you shouldn’t have too long to wait. When the dates are confirmed which will probably be around March I will publicise the schedule on this website.
