Posted on 01. Dec, 2010 by in Uncategorized

Kitchens are important and significant rooms in Feng Shui as they are the rooms in which food, or to put it another way, the body’s fuel is prepared. Food gives nourishment and energy to the body ensuring that we can live a productive, healthy and fulfilling life. Unfortunately however given their significance kitchens can be very problematic areas, possibly more so than any other room. This is because many modern kitchens by their very nature can cause a lot of disruption to the natural flow of energy. Consider for a moment your own kitchen, count how many electrical appliances you have on view. More than any other room I would guess. In my own kitchen, and I try to keep electrical items packed away as much as possible, there is the fridge, the ovens, the microwave, the dishwasher. As a child of the 70′s and 80′s much as I would like to and try to embrace a more gentle and simple way of life the truth is that these are items that I along with most people find very difficult to live without.

If the amount of electricity in the kitchen causes problems this can pale in to insignificance next to the major problem that can be caused to the most important areas of the kitchen, the oven and hob. With the exception of these, most appliances in the modern kitchen use water. The fridge, the dishwasher, the sink, the washing machine the truth is that kitchens have a predominance of water and water as we know in the destructive cycle if it is not managed, can destroy fire. Without care and attention to placement you can have a kitchen where energy is not flowing effectively and this can lead to digestive problems, weight problems and conflict in the area of your life where the kitchen is situated.

Fortunately there are many actions that you can take to overcome these problems without getting the kitchen designers in to create a brand new kitchen. Unless your kitchen is in the water area of your home add in elements of wood to support the fire, wooden shelves and units, pictures of trees, a long wooden kitchen table can all work well. If your oven is situated immediately next to a water element then try and create a barrier between the two, the best cure for this is to place a crystal or alternatively you can site a crystal vase with flowers or crystal candle holders. To minimise the electricity in the kitchen only have on the kitchen counter what you are using, my partner is a sucker for the latest electrical kitchen gadget and we therefore have cupboards filled with a whole assortment of kitchen aids but they are all neatly packed away and only on the kitchen counter for the short period of time that they are being used.

For more on how you can cure common kitchen nighmares you will find a lot more helpful information on my weekly blog or on the kitchen video. I hope you find the tips useful and helpful in ensuring you have a kitchen that is practical, attractive and filled with positive energy.
