I promised you in last week’s blog that I would spend some time this week looking at the relationship area of the home. The relationship area of your home sits in the south west area of your home and energy in this area governs the significant relationship with your partner, husband or wife or if you are single can help you find a partner, assuming of course that you are looking for one. Even if you are not in a relationship and have no intention of finding one it is still important that you nurture the energy in this area, after all as I am fond of saying a balanced home is a happy home.
In the cycle of elements the relationship area lies in an earth area and is the starting point for the yin half of the yin yang cycle. It is important that this room is decorated in earthy, muted colours. Browns and beiges are good tones to use in this area, supported by shades of pinks and creams. As it is an earth area try and introduce plants and flowers in to the rooms here, with plants in this area it is important that these are wide leaved, evergreen plants and not overly woody.
As this is your relationship area if you have pictures on the walls try and ensure that they form natural pairs. In our relationship area at Le Plantis we have a pair of canvases that we bought together. The canvases which are large and rectangular are decorated with pink orchids and look lovely on the wall. In addition to pictures also if possible try and put objects together in to pairs, a pair of candles, two bowls, an ornament of a couple. Most importantly if you are adding pictures or objects to this area make sure that whatever you place in the room is loved by both of you.

Top Tips for strengthening the Relationship Area of your Home
If you are in a relationship, place a picture of the two of you in the relationship area. If you are looking for love place a picture of a couple on the wall, or a pair of pictures next to each other.
Always ensure objects in pairs are placed in this area. Two pink candles, a pair of cherubs, two ornaments, a couple of evergreen plants in sturdy square planters, two vases of flowers at each end of the fireplace all work very well in this area and help to strengthen chi. If you are in a relationship make sure any objects you place are loved by both of you.
Fabrics should encourage you to be tactile. Soft squashy cushions covered in fake fur or velvet, thick drapes that when pulled across the windows take away most of the light, a comfy sofa just big enough for two can all help to make the room a romantic area
If your kitchen or bathroom is in this area, place furniture in the room that encourages two of you to be in the room at the same time. A comfy chair in a kitchen so that one of you can sit and talk whilst the other is preparing a meal, in a bathroom a large bath or shower that fits two or a chair next to the bath so that the two of you can talk and bathe works wonders for any relationship.
Crystals are great enhancers for any room. In the relationship area Rose Quartz makes a beautiful decoration. Two bowls filled with pretty rose quartz crystals or a couple of rose quartz candle holders at either side of a sofa will enhance the feeling of love in the house.
